Tasting Note
Nose: Immediately fruity in the nose with ripe pears, green apples, some banana and a hint of fresh lemongrass. Then creamy vanilla notes with honey, accompanied by spicy oak and ginger. Very intoxicating.
Palate: The wonderful fruit aromas can also be found on the palate. Complex fruit compote with pear and apples, accompanied by creamy honey notes, vanilla and ginger biscuits. Then warming spices with some pepper, oak and fresh ginger spice.
Finish: The finish shows a medium length with initially sweet and creamy honey notes, which then merge into somewhat baked bread, crispy malt and hints of pine resin with dry oak tones.
Story of Macduff
Macduff distillery has a classic, clean and functional Delme-Evans design, with the stillhouse being the most intriguing part of the engineering.
A modern distillery, Macduff (whose whisky is bottled by its owner as either Glen Deveron or The Deveron; Macduff is only used by independent bottlers) was built in 1960 .
The distillery had been slowly expanding in terms of production throughout its life and its Italian owner upped the number of stills to five in 1990.
Martini merged with Bacardi and in 1995 Macduff became part of the Dewar’s stable.
