Description
Tasting Note
Nose: A classic sherry monster, orangy and pure old-style sherry influence, very integrated, not overpowered. Also very mineral (soil), salty, and malty. Some oak, overall, bright, fresh and fruity.
Palate: Wool and leather, sweet and orangy sherry influence, very very intense and juicy, very balanced and integrated. Dried mango, earthy spices. Then towards minty liquor, very minty indeed. Definitely a great sherried whisky with no flaws.
Finish: Long, Chinese dry dates, dark chocolate, no overpowered sherry, just a perfect blend between sherry and malt.
Story of Glen Elgin
Founded in 1898 in the heart of Speyside, Glen Elgin is recognised for producing exceptionally fruity and elegant single malt Scotch whisky. Built during the final years of the Victorian whisky boom, the distillery became known for its slow distillation methods and rich spirit character, helping shape the modern Speyside whisky style.
Using long fermentation and traditional production techniques, Glen Elgin creates a whisky celebrated for its lush fruitiness, soft texture, and layered sweetness. Often described as one of Speyside’s hidden gems, the distillery remains highly respected among whisky enthusiasts and independent bottlers alike.
